On May 14, 2014 Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau of Science for Asia and the Pacific Mr. Hubert Gijzen visited National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi. 

Mr. Gijzen was accompanied by Secretary General of National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO Mr.Alisher Ikramov, and UNESCO Representative in Uzbekistan Ms. Krista Pikkat.
During the visit, the guests made a tour to the Palace of Symposia and Library and familiarized with modern information and library technologies implemented in National Library. 

At present Division of National Bibliographic Databases Formation replenishes the AILS electronic database with materials of Uzbekistan studies. 

As of May  5 - 8, 2014 the electronic catalog was replenished with 73 bibliographic records of newspapers articles, 7 records of journals articles, in total 476 bibliographic records and 193 bibliographic records were edited.

On April 23-25, 2014 in Karshi was held the VIII International conference “Internet and library information resources in science, education, culture and business - Central Asia-2014”. 

In the Conference took part  representatives of Communication, Information and Telecommunication Technologies State Committee, Legislative chamber of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi,  Ministry on Affairs of culture and sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of Higher and Secondary education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and participants from other organizations, as well as representatives of foreign countries such as the USA, Germany, Kazakhstan, the Ukraine, Russia and Azerbaijan.

At present Division of National Bibliographic Databases Formation replenishes the AILS electronic database with materials of Uzbekistan studies. 

As of April 21 - 25, 2014 the electronic catalog was replenished with 53 bibliographic records of newspapers articles, 4 records of journals articles, in total 248 bibliographic records were edited.

The Opening Ceremony and Plenary session of VIII International Conference "Central Asia -2014: the Internet and Library Information Resources in Science, Education, Culture and Business" was held in the Kashkadarya province Music and Drama Theater named after Mullah Tuychi in Karshi.

The goal of the conference is to enhance the activities of all types of  libraries, educational institutions, archives, museums and other organizations of the Republic of Uzbekistan for effective and efficient collaboration in the development and application of electronic information resources in science, education, culture and business.

There was a presentation of the book “Books open the world” from the publishers of Uzbekistan at the Theatre’s lobby and the exhibition of new published materials: children’s books, magazines, encyclopedias, dictionaries, scientific and fiction books. The exhibition was organized by Kashkadarya province Department Agency of Press and Information.
