Magazine «The World literature», published since 1997, the Uzbek Agency for print and information, the Union of writers of Uzbekistan and the Republican center of «Spirituality and enlightenment», on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov published on their pages works of world of prose and poetry, classical and modern, sometimes avant-garde works of art, literary articles, announcements about new works.
The national library, in order to meet the intellectual, cultural, spiritual and moral needs of the population, especially the youth, carries out and puts into practice its activities new opportunities for choice of methods, forms and sources of information on the basis of the concept of the library and using modern high-performance information and communication technologies.
The National Library of Uzbekistan till 2012 along with traditional card-catalog worked on electronic catalog. At present Division of National Bibliographic Databases Formation replenishes the AILS electronic database with materials of Uzbekistan studies.
From 14 to 18 January so the service of the cataloguing and systematization of the received 144 specimens of new books (systematized in the following sections: policy - 64 units; medicine - 1 unit; pedagogy and culture - 16 units; fiction - 43 units; art - 2 units; equipment - 2 units; literature - 1 unit; psychology -1 units; natural Sciences - 8 units.)
On the first floor, on the right side of the building the electronic library is working. Here you can find more than 450 000 electronic books including e-textbooks, manuals and much other information. The database is based on Uzbek, Russian and English languages. All computers have access to the Internet. Electronic library services to all for free.
Throughout the world and, in particular, in our country celebrated the national, state, and professional events. By tradition, each year, the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi produces "The Calendar significant and memorable of dates of the independent Republic of Uzbekistan."
