24.05.2013 The National Library continues work on the completion of electronic database of information resources and assignment of ISBN and ISSN numbers to local publications
At present Division of National Bibliographic Databases Formation replenishes the AILS electronic database with materials of Uzbekistan studies. As of May 20-24, 2013 the electronic catalog was replenished with 50 bibliographic records of newspapers articles, 3 records of journals articles, in total 320 bibliographic records and 216 bibliographic records were edited.
24.05.2013The National Library continues the work on information resources cataloging
From 20 to 24 may support cataloguing and systematization of the received 158 copies of new editions. Was made of their technical and scientific processing, as well as performed the bibliographic description 42 books (systematized in the following sections: policy - 10 units, medicine - 10 units, agriculture – 7 units, art - 10 units, literary criticism – 5 units ) and 116 abstracts (policy – 24 units, medicine - 22 units, equipment - 26 units, art - 1 units, culture – 11 units, natural sciences - 15 units, sport - 1 units, linguistics - 8 units, agriculture – 6 units, literary criticism – 2 units) which have been transferred to the service of the storage of books and periodicals for the further use of the readers.
21.05.2013The National Library of Uzbekistan has purchased sensor kiosks.
The National Library of Uzbekistan has purchased 5 kiosks to enable users with latest modern information technologies. Self-service terminals provide information about the history of the library, work schedule, services, rules of use of audio resources, and daily announcements.
In audio resource terminals one can listen to classical music and audio books in Russian and Uzbek languages.
On May 20, 2013, in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan National Library of Uzbekistan hosted literary meeting with contemporary American writers - representatives of the International Writers Program at the University of Iowa (USA) - Ann Hood, Stephen Kuusisto, Christopher Merrill and Chinelo Okparanta. The meeting was attended by library users, and members of the Writers Union of Uzbekistan. The writers read the excerpts from their works, and participated in a lively discussion.
