On August 26, 2015 UNESCO deputy CEO Eric Falt visited the National Library of Uzbekistan. Excursion to Symphosiums Hall and National Library aimed at introducing activities, opportunities and development perspectives of the National Library of Uzbekistan was organised during his visit.
Welcoming the guest, the director of the National Library A. Khodjaev informed him about the history and the recent activity of the library, the conditions made for its users, the latest information technologies used in the process of forming the electronic sources, the international relationships of the National Library and in particular, about the progress of the partnership in terms of various projects. In addition, the guest visited the Book Museum, exhibition, multimedia and electronic halls.
Cataloging and classification service received 99 copies of new editions between 20 and 24 July.
Technical and scientific processing were made and 99 books’ bibliographic descriptions were performed (classified under the following headings: policy - 27 units, literature - 2 units, fiction books - 49 units, agriculture- 1 units, art - 1units, eguipment - 2 units, social science-12 units, pedagogy and culture - 4 units) which were given to the storage service book collection and periodicals for further use by readers.
Cataloging and classification service received 166 copies of new editions between of June 29 - July 3, 2015.

Cataloging and classification service received 142 copies of new editions between 4 and 8 May.

Cataloging and systematized service on LBC (Library Bibliographic Classification) gave bibliographic descriptions of 73 prints and preparing for publication in Uzbekistan.

Regarding issuing of International Standard Book Number (ISBN) for local publications, the National Library issued 57 ISBN numbers (books for adults 56 books for children – 1). 17 contracts were composed.
And regarding issuing of International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) for local publications the National Library issued 1 ISSN number. The Library made contracts for 2 ISSN number.

As of March 9 - 13 , 2015 the electronic catalog was replenished with 62 bibliographic records of newspapers articles, 13 records of journals articles, in total 480 bibliographic records and 250 bibliographic records were edited.
Regarding issuing of International Standard Book Number (ISBN) for local publications, the National Library issued 61 ISBN numbers (books for adults 34 books for children – 27). 19 contracts were composed.

More and more visitors a week "Open Door" in Uzbekistan National Library named Alisher Navoi become regular users.
Visit the National Library today students Uzbek State University of Economics, Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, Tashkent Medical Academy, Tashkent University of Information Technologies, Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Melioration, Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology (of 253 students) learned many interesting things from the past the present National Library , watching the video and visiting the museum library. Especially, attracted the attention of visitors information kiosk, located in the lobby of the library.
Within a week of "Open Door" the National Library of Uzbekistan named Alisher Navoi was attended by students of the Uzbek State Institute of Physical Culture, Tashkent Institute of Textile and Light Industry, University of Oil and Gas named Gubkin and Tashkent Financial Institute.
Since 2nd to 5th September 2014 The National Libraryy of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi is opening its doors to all who desire closer acquaintance.
The purpose of the event is to familiarize with the Library. The event is timed to September 2nd – The Knowledge Day.
In 1st day of the "Open Door" week a video which tells about the history and activities of the National Library will be submitted in the minor conference hall for university, lyceums and college students and schoolchildren. Familiarization tour over the library and presentation were held by the department of Information Services.

By the reason of scheduled sanitary and profilactic day National Library will resume its working hours at 2 pm.

On the last day of the General Conference and Assembly of the International Federation of library associations and institutions (IFLA) the completion of the meetings in the following sections:
• Copyright issues
• Libraries in social processes
• The issues of digitization and creation of electronic resources
• Issues of conservation and management of documentary cultural heritage.
Interest was aroused by segment - knowledge Management with the theme of "Knowledge in the digital age. Changes in libraries. The role of libraries". We heard 4 of the report. The first report from the Bavarian state library devoted to the issues of contemporary challenge to libraries, as well as the preparation of the publication, life publications after publication. Second report was by the Humboldt University in Berlin.
One of the major events of the day was the Conference of Directors of National Libraries (CDNL).The Conference was held in the Lobby of the Ville Hotel. The meeting was attended by Heads and specialists of the National libraries from over 50 countries such as Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Vietnam, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Ethiopia, Finland, Gambia, Germany, Greece, Haiti, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Jamaica, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Nigeria, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom, Sweden, USA, Russia, Uzbekistan, Slovenia, Swaziland, Qatar, Morocco, South Africa and many more.
On August 17th, Lyon Convention Centre (Convention Centre) held an official Opening Ceremony for 80th IFLA Congress.
80th General Conference and Assembly of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) brings together specialists from all over the world to exchange ideas, share experiences, present for discussion of new information technologies and achievements in librarianship.
On August 18 th in Lyon Convention Centre (Convention Centre) the International forum of librarians was continued. Congress continued its work, plenary sessions and section in 29 various fields related to information and library activities.
A plenary meeting of the President of IFLA attracted great interest of participants. IFLA President opened the meeting and set the tone for all performances by presenting the Lyon Declaration prepared for the Congress.
5 reports were presented on the session. The first report focused on the issues of access to information related to the literacy and competence of the readers (users), new technologies and trends, as well as the role of libraries in improving information literacy. According to report the informational content increases 2 times per year.
On August 13, a discussion under topic “You are unique Independent Motherland” dedicated to 23rd year of our country’s Independence was held in a meeting hall of National Library of Uzbekistan named Alisher Navoi. During the event documentary movie “On the eve of Independence” was performed. Main points of the movie focused an importance of art of direction and its deep content left an indelible impression on the participants.
The photo-exhibition “Figures honored by Navoi“ devoted to the 600th anniversary of a magnificent oriental poet Nuriddin Abdurahman Ibn Ahmed Jami is set up in the reading room “Uzbekistan” at National Library since August 7, 2014.
Nuriddin Abdurahman Ibn Ahmed Jami was born in 1414 in Jam Nuroson. Only 46 works of him were preserved to these days. Jami compiled a collection of five writings so called “Panjganj” (Five Treasures) also knows as “Khamsa” and completed it in 1485. The collection consists of following poems: ”Tuhfatul-ahror”, «Sabhatul-abror”, “Yusuf va Zuleikha”, Leili va Medjnun” and Hirodnomai Iskandariy”.
Оn June 13, 2014, within official visit by the Inter-parliamentary cooperation of the delegation Republic of Lithuania headed by the first Deputy Speaker of the Saeima Dr. Vidas Gedvilas and Ambassador of Republic of Lithuania in Uzbekistan Mr. Renatas Norkus, visited the National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.

Оn May 29, 2014 foreign participants of Central Asian Symposium on information and communication technologies in education, held on 27-29 may in Tashkent with the financial support of the Korea education and research information service (KERIS, Korea) visited National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.
The delegation included representatives of the Ministry of education of the Republic of Korea, managers, experts in education planning, experts on ICT in education from Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Korea, Singapore, Philippines, Bangladesh, Poland, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Australia, Mongolia and UNESCO experts.

On April 2, 2014 was held an event dedicated to the International Children's Book Day at Conference hall of the National Library. The event was attended by representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan folk art: People's writer of Uzbekistan, laureate of the prize «Hamza» and modern Uzbek children's writer Khudaiberdy Tohtabaev, doctor of Philological Sciences Abduqafur Rasulov and chief editor of the joint-stock company «Sharq» Rustam Bauturi. During the event, guests and participants with special enthusiasm stressed out the necessity to read good books for children in order to promote the enduring role of children's books in the formation of a new generation of readers. Also in the National library was presented the exhibition «Journey into the world of children's books».
Ozod Sharafiddinov (1929 - 2005) - one of the most talented representatives of the Uzbek intelligentsia: an outstanding scientist, professor, teacher, writer, translator, editor of the magazine “Jahon adabiyoti”. Hero of Uzbekistan, literary critic Ozod Sharafiddinov has earned the sincere love of our people for his multifaceted activities, sharp journalistic articles, literary translations and personal courage and resilience. Thanks to his efforts, the Uzbek people acquainted with the best works of world literature. Ozoda of Sharafiddinov works “Reflections on the pass”, “On the path of spiritual perfection”, “Fighters for independence”, “President”, “The joy of creation” serve as a model of a modern national literature thinking.

On March 26,2014 at the threshold of celebrating the world day of theatre hold a creative meeting with people's artist of Republic of Uzbekistan Tesha Muminov, honored artist of Uzbekistan Gavhar Zokirova, leading actors of Republican theatres in the conference hall of the National Library of Uzbekistan. The theme of creative meetings was «The theatre is a place of goodness and spirituality».

As of February 10-14, 2014 the electronic catalog was replenished with 78 bibliographic records of newspapers articles, 17 records of journals articles, in total 639 bibliographic records and 257 bibliographic records were edited.

As of November 11-15, 2013 the electronic catalog was replenished with 68 bibliographic records of newspapers articles, 29 records of journals articles, in total 613 bibliographic records and 251 bibliographic records were edited.
Regarding issuing of International Standard Book Number (ISBN) for local publications, the National Library issued 78 ISBN numbers (books for adults 69, books for children – 9). 24 contracts for 67 titles of literature for adults and 8 for children were composed.
International Agency for assigned ISBN book numbers engaged in coordination and standardization of the use of the ISBN for the unique identification of the names of the books or publications belonging to one publisher, and this number is assigned only to this edition. Currently member of the international ISBN Agency are about 200 States, regional agencies, and major international publishers.
International ISBN Annual Report Meeting was revealed in New York (USA) on September 11, 2013. International Agency ISBN book numbers is engaged in the matters of identification of publications based on the application of the International Standard Book Numbers (ISBN) and establishes the order of use, structure, composition, form of writing, the location in publications, procedure of assignment of ISBN. International standard book number (ISBN) was developed on the basis of the system of numbering books, introduced in 1967 in the UK by J. Whitaker & Sons, Ltd. and in 1968 in the U.S. by R.R. Bowker.
From the 1st to the 21st August in the training center of the National library were trained 8 participants from Society of business women with disabilities of Uzbekistan in the basic computer skill. Specialized training course was developed and conducted by the specialists of the Center of programmers BE PRO.
In the National library on August 19, in the reading hall «Jahon», organized a presentation on the subject «Creation of technological parks» by researcher of the company "CivaTech Oncology», Dr. Seth Hoedle. The representatives of the Embassy of USA in Tashkent attended at the presentation: Attache on economic issues and the expert on scientific issues. During the event, Mr. Hoedle answered for the library users` questions. At the end of presentation it was organized excursion to the library for the guests.
On August 12, 2013, in “International youth day”, in the National library was held a press-briefing with the UN resident coordinator in Uzbekistan Stephen Pristner. Mr. Pristner in his welcoming speech talked about the priorities identified by the UN youth work in the world and in Uzbekistan.

On July 11, 2013, at 3 p.m. InterClub of the National Library will hold the debate on the topic “Book versus Movie” in the Cinema Center of the National Library. Everyone will be able to take part in this session. The only requirement is that all participants must speak in English. This debate will provide all comers with a great opportunity to improve their public speaking skills, critical thinking as well as it will enrich their English vocabulary in use.
We will be glad to see all comers!
The discussion was held in honor of 237 years of independence of the USA by students from different educational institutes. In the discussion, the students had a chance to obtain useful information regarding the educational institutions in the USA, about the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad, took part in interesting and informative games, and widened their English vocabulary.

Utkir Khashimov was the author of more than 70 books, has worked in various mass media, has held senior positions in the publishing house of literature and arts named after Gafur Gulam and was the chief editor of the magazine "Shark Yulduzi." Along with the creative work, Utkir Khashimov actively involved in social and political life of Uzbekistan. Utkir Khashimov had been awarded many times by various government awards and honors, including the award of the Hamza, the title of People's writer of Uzbekistan, the State Prize of Uzbekistan, the orders "Mehnat shuhrati" and "Buyuk hizmatlari uchun". He died due to the long illness on May 24 of this year at the age of 72.

On May 30, on the eve of the celebration of the International Сhildren’s Day the National Library of Uzbekistan arranged a number of events in cooperation of SOS-Children's villages of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek-Japanese center of human resources development, UNICEF, UNDP. The event was attended by over 120 children.
National Library has started the creation of the collection of President Islam Karimov’s work in epub format for effective use of all Library collections.
On May 6, 2013 at 15.00 Akram Khabibullaev, an American scholar of Kazakh origin, who currently holds the position of Head of the Middle East, Islamic and Central Eurasian Collection at Indiana University (USA) donated 10 Arab and Turkic manuscripts to the National Library of Uzbekistan. Dr Khabibullaev attended the 7th International Conference "Internet, Information and Library Resources for Science, Education, Culture and Business» «Central Asia – 2013". Also Farhad Mardonov, student of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies donated two books from his private collection to the National Library.
The session on the results of the conference, at which the moderators expressed their results and announced a good and relevant reports were on April 25. The results of the Conference noted along with a significant increase in the role of information-library institutions and archives in the development science, education, culture and economic challenges in the creation of electronic resources, the information-library networks and cooperation of institutions for joint use of the foreign information resources. In particular, participants showed a great interest into the reports given by the director of Iranian national library Es’hagh Salahi; the head of office a.i. UNESCO, representative in Uzbekistan Krista Pikkat; Меlеk khanum Gajiyeva from National library of Azerbaijan and Galina Raykova from Russian State library.
Committee on the issues of Informatization and telecommunication technologies of the legislative chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the State Committee of communications and Informatization and telecommunication technologies, national library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi, the Ministry on Affairs of culture and sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry of higher and secondary education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a number of other organizations, members and representatives from more than 10 countries such as Uzbekistan, the USA, Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Iran, China, Canada took part in the conference.
From 15 to 19 April, cataloging and classification service received 170 copies. new editions.
