Biography
 
Yusuf Ibn Yusuf al-Tabib al-Heravi (Herat doctor) was born in the end of the FIFTEENTH century, in the Half, subject to Khorasan. His father was a famous doctor of Herat and the author of “spring of life” (“Ayn al-Hayat”). There is no reliable information on where and with whom he studied Yusuf. However, the fact that he studied medical science and lexicography, indicates a strong influence on Yusuf his father. It is known that he received primary education in the year and Half. Then moved with their parents in Herat, where he continued his studies teachers, medics, who taught in the madrasah “Dar al-Shifa”, founded by the great thinker, founder of Uzbek literature Alisher Navoi.
 
Yusuf left a rich scientific heritage on various otrasljam science. It should be noted that six of his works are devoted to medicine. He wrote in Persian and his works on medicine wrote in verses (poetry).
 
Yusuf was a special doctor of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. In 1526 at his request, went with him to India, where he served in the Royal physician. During the life of the Babur works on medicine were very popular in India, Khorasan and Maverannakhr. After the death of Babur’s new ruler – Humayun appointed Yusuf as his personal Secretary (Mansi).
 
Yusuf Ibn Yusuf died in 1544 , Delhi (India).
 
The main scientific works
 
1 . “ILAC al-amras” (Treatment of diseases). Written in the form rubais in Persian. Contains 291 quatrain, each dedicated to a single disease, and contains practical recommendations for its treatment.
2 . “Jami ‘al-fawaid” (Collection of useful information). Written in Persian prose. The treatise is a kind of commentary to own poetic treatise “ILAC al-amras”. Sacred treatment of diseases from head to toe.
3 . “Risala and mA Kul VA Mashrab” (Treatise on food and drink). Verse medical traktat, devoted to Perama food and drink in order to maintain health. Written assuming language.
4 . “Fawaid al-akhyar” (Useful information for virtuous). Verse treatise. Dedicated some simple drugs of plant, animal and mineral origin.
5 . “Sitta and sarurile” (Treatise on six essential conditions for health). Written in prose and verses in Persian. In Tractate says according to human health from air, food, drink, sleep, wakefulness.
6 . “Casida the gift of ASMA and Agnes and adwiyya” (Casidu on the names of various drugs). Written on persidsko language in poetry. In the treatise izlojenii medicine name in Arabic and Persian languages.
 
Contribution to the world science
 
Yusuf has made a significant contribution to the development of medical science. In his works described new treatments for diseases that are not found in the book “Canons of medicine” Avicenna. For example, Yusuf in the history of medicine first successfully treated sexually transmitted diseases by using the recipe that he himself was.
 
Yusuf was first used quatrains to light the issues of medical science, and has made great perfection. He was a follower of poetry Avicenna.
 
Yusuf also made a sufficient contribution to the development of epistolary art, as evidenced by its work “Rarity epistolary art”.
 
Global recognition
 
A few dozen copies of the manuscript of Yusuf Ibn Yusuf stored in the manuscript funds in many countries of the world (England, India, Bengal, Iran and so on), and also included in a number of directories of Oriental manuscripts.
 
Heritage Yusuf left a noticeable trace in the history of culture of the peoples of Central Asia. For example, in his work, “a Collection of useful information” has twice been translated into Uzbek in Uzbekistan. Especially his poetry medical works are widely known. And in India were written comments to his quatrains (“rubai”).
 
Part of the work of Yusuf “Collection of information” was translated into English.
