Biography
 
Muhammad b. Najib Bahram is a citizen of Tusa town (currently Iran); the main part of his scientific investigation is referred to Nishapura town and the capital of the country Annushteginid Khorezm-Shahs – Gurganja.
 
The Main Scientific Works
 
Jahan-name – consists of an appendix in Persian, elaborated by Najib Bahram in addition to the world map.
 
Contribution to the world science
 
He made up a round world map on the canvas which he presented to ruler Muhammad Khorezm-Shah. That map has not been preserved to our times but comments on it entitled Jahan-name have reached us.  An important aspect of this map is the existence of a degree net (the lines of Parallels and Meridians) and also the borders of the countries. More than 600 geographical names are mentioned in Jahan-name, including the description of the inhabited quarter of the Earth, oceans, seas, rivers, mountains, desserts and natural resources.
 
World Recognition
 
Currently, Jahan-name of Najib Bahran is translated into Russian and published in Moscow (1964).
